Texas A&M University at Qatar held its annual Fall Graduate Recognition on 20 Dec. The event recognized the 13 graduates and degree candidates from the University since its official commencement ceremony in May. Five graduated in August and eight are degree candidates in December.
Dr. Hamid R. Parsaei, associate dean for academic affairs, opened the event, saying, “At the end of every fall semester, Texas A&M at Qatar hosts a recognition ceremony in honor of its August and December graduates and degree candidates. We continue that tradition this evening as we recognize 13 young Aggie engineers on the occasion of their completion of undergraduate studies.”
Graduates in August were Mona Al-Asmakh, Maryam Almohammadi, Dana Fakhroo, Maha Al-Rumaihi and Maryam Abu-Holayqah. Degree candidates for graduation in December include Ahmed Lotfi, Bassam Ahmad, Mohammad Kazmi, Noora Al-Mannai, Rabih Fayad, Roda Al-Mohamedi, Seifullah El Haraki and Wael Al-Rihawi.
The ceremony and reception offered an opportunity for graduating students to reflect on their achievements during undergraduate studies and future career prospects.
Ahmad, a mechanical engineering degree candidate, said, “Studying at Texas A&M at Qatar gave me much more than a degree in engineering. Being an Aggie engineer is a way of life. It permeates our work ethic, attitude and the way we interact with one another.”
